What we store
In plain language, we keep:
- •Account details — your name, email, password (stored securely, never in plain text), and the professional details you provide such as jurisdiction, bar council, and admission year.
- •Profile details — your public display name, headline, biography, and photo, if you choose to add them, and whether you've opted into the public directory.
- •Achievements & publications — what you submit for recognition or publication, plus its review status.
- •Practice-tool data — clients, matters, and notes you enter into your own workspace. This is private to you; other members and the public cannot see it.
- •Membership records — your membership status and certificate number, used to power the public verification page.
What's public
Only what you opt into. If you enable directory visibility, your display name, headline, jurisdiction, photo, and approved achievements appear on your public profile and in the directory. Your certificate number is always publicly verifiable by design — that's what makes the credential checkable — but this does not reveal your email, contact details, or practice-tool data.
How we use it
To run your membership, show your recognition where you've opted in, review achievements and articles you submit, and contact you about your account. We don't sell member data.
Who can see it
Council staff (editors/admins) can see member records to run reviews and membership administration. The public can see only directory-visible profile fields, approved achievements, and certificate verification status.
Your choices
You can turn directory visibility on or off, edit your profile, and ask the Council to delete your account by writing to us. Some records — such as a certificate number already issued — are retained to keep verification honest even after a membership lapses.
